They are the light that keeps us moving forward to fulfill our mission.
What is a Sassy Kid?
Sassy’s Kids are the children receiving assistance through The Sassy Carmen Foundation™. The families of these children have given us permission to follow their journey through childhood cancer. These stories give a firsthand look at the trials and tribulations a family goes through when one of their children is diagnosed with cancer. But it also shows the strength, love, and support these children are wrapped in during the course of their treatment.
These stories are meant to provide insight into what a family goes through during diagnosis and treatment, as well as guidance for newly diagnosed families. Sassy’s Kids provides a community of support and really allows you to put a face to where your donations go.
We will guide you through the journey of Sassy’s Kids and their families as they battle childhood cancer.
We provide updates regularly on each family provides details. It will be up to the families to disclose as much of their story they feel comfortable sharing.

Meet Benjamin**
Benjamin was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma at 11 months old in May 2022.
How they found out
At the end of March into April 2022, Benjamin started getting black eyes. They would appear out of nowhere, with no cause and no explanation. His right eye began to swell drastically and never truly got better.
On May 3rd of that same year, Benjamin ended up in the ER, and ultimately admitted to CHKD where he underwent multiple tests to find answers.
The Ups and Downs
Due to an infection at the incision site from surgery, Ben spent his first birthday in the hospital, where he received his first blood transfusion due to low blood counts.
The first few weeks of navigating this illness were very scary for Ben and his family, as they were facing the unknown with health, safety, and their new normal.
